Day
1 Surat Thani - Khao Sok National Park
Pick up from the morning ferry from Samui
or from trainstation or airport in Surat Thani
(please advise time) and drive to the man-made
water reservoir that covers almost 10% of Khao
Sok National Park, one of the most important
connected areas of tropical rain forest in Southern
Thailand. A boat trip across the huge
lake, will bring you to a floating ranger station
hidden in a small bay amidst rain-forest covered
hills one hour later. Have
lunch on the raft and go on a trek in theafternoon.
Depending on weather conditions and the water
level of the lake, the walk will take about
one and a half hour in one direction. The trail
is not difficult, does not have any steep inclinations,
but some climbs over
fissured rocks are necessary and the river has
to be crossed several times. Your destination
is a cave in the rain forest, where you will
have time to explore the subterranean river.
You can even decide (depending on weather conditions,
the water level and the advise of the accompanying
ranger) to return part of the way back through
the cave. Otherwise, you will return back on
the same way to reach the raft houses in time
for dinner. Accommodation in one of the small
floating bungalows, that are equipped with thin
mattresses on the ground. The communal toilet
and bathroom are built on the shore. |

Day
2 Khao Sok National Park
The morning time is free to spot animals
coming to the lake or to go swimming. After
breakfast return by boat to the dam, passing
sunken trees and high-rising cliffs. Go on by
minibus through the impressive landscape of
Khao Sok to the national park head quarter.
After arrival, lunch in the "jungle lodge" and
check in the simple stilt-built wooden bungalows,
that are equipped with a small veranda, double
or twin beds with moscitonet and a private bathroom.
You have time to take a ride down the river
in an inflated tyre, if the current is not too
strong or explore the surroundings together
with your guide. Dinner is served in the "jungle
lodge" and you will sleep under the moscitonet
with the sound of the surrounding nature around. |

by the falls, return
to the "jungle lodge" for lunch. Afternoon departure
